On the winning track with countercurrent bleaching
The basic principle is as simple as it is effective.
In the first stage, or pre-bleaching, unbleached oil is mixed with once-used bleaching earth,
resulting initially in a 75 % reduction of undesirable attendant material.
In the second stage, or final bleaching, pre-bleached oil is mixed with fresh
bleaching earth. This two-tier process leads to a reduced consumption of bleaching
earth of up to 40 %.
